define "open". like an air cleaner/hard air intake instead of the rubber one with an air box? most likely not enough to justify the cost. but they sure sound neat. LOL. if you had a higher-performance engine, then you can pick up a bit. especially if you had the car tuned. but you would most benefit with an exhaust added as well. the next step would be a high-flow or no cat, if you wanted to break the law. again, most gains by tuning. a drop-in air filter is cheaper and will get you about the same gains if that's all you plan on doing. unless you found a DIRT cheap, used intake. then why not? lastly, if you were to do an intake and full exhaust (no cat), tune (going all out racer style), you would loose some low-end power but gain it back on top. it's all about how you want your engine to perform.

Hondas aren't much for top speed. their RPM and gearing make them quick. but not fast. acceleration and top speed can be had at any RPM. you just need to figure out how you want it to get there. for the most part, your car is what it is. you aren't gonna change much without putting quite a bit of money into it and a TON of work. or more money. LOL. making any car "fast" is tough to do and will cost you. of course, i guess it all depends on your definition of "fast". to some, a 14sec 1/4 mile is fast. to others it's 12sec. still, to others, it's all about lap times. "fast" is a relative term, i guess.

| that reminds me. jdmgeek: you will run into a few "knowitalls" that, instead of chiming in to be helpful, would rather pump themselves up by putting you down. like i said, a few people on here try to be helpful. you will quickly get an idea of who those people are and who to ignore. it took me a bit longer than it should have, but i finally got it. LOL anyone care to help this guy out with their experience and info? | |

Couldn't have just PM the person your 1-800 number instead? so you have nothing to contribute and thought, instead, to muck up another thread? sorry if helping out a newcomer is beneath you. nobody asked you to post here.

this is sort of true. if you want to have alot more fun, converting to a manual transmission would be a good start. Auto just blows lol. - kaj wrote:

Back to the topic, JDMGEEK, you need to figure out what you intend to do with your car. Everything is not an acceptable answer. You build a car with a purpose. An accelleration/top speed/ drift/drag/auto-x/track car isn't going to happen. so be real with what you want to achieve with the DA. You live in prather, you drive the roads up there alot im assuming... If i were you i would save up for a swap. I'd go GSR, and get some suspension. real coilovers (not sleeve overs), beefy sway bars, Maybe some adjustable camber, not to forget tires too... then have at some touge. shit thats actually what im shooting for with my project. And that will convert to some other fun stuff like auto-x and track time.

Wheres the muck? Really it's silly that we have a thread for one user, when we have a tech section. Also like garrett said i have yet to see a real question that deserves an answer of detail. How do I make a car fast is vauge. Fast in a straight line, fast on a road coarse, or fast at dodging cones all have different answer's. I do agree that we all can help, but I am not going to spend God knows how long writing every single thing i've learned over the years to try and answer such an empty question. I am not a know it all, but i have gained a fair amount of knowledge and things i need answers for I can't get i search the world wide web. I personally believe it's hard to have a car thats well balanced for all of those things. You end up giving on two for the other. I personally will willingly give up the drag race and road race specs to have a better prepped auto x car. That is my over all goal. When I see him ask something more spefic I'll chime in if I feel like I have a solid answer.
