trying to help out my younger brother. he's having issues with his del sol with a b16. when he step on the gas, his rpm drops to near stalling. i mean like <300 then it slowly goes up. would it be the iacv? what are other problems that can cause this?

I'm confused as RPMs can't instantly drop while driving. If they did, the front tires would lock up.

when he put the car into 1 gear and gas it a little the rpm would drop to like <300 and would steadily climb.
