| So this is my 2011 Honda FIT. Its stock. Just though I'd share a few pictures since I'm new. There isn't much aftermarket support for the GE8 FITs so I dont have much plans. Plus, I've been kind of broke lately supplying for other hobbies, bass fishing and snowboarding. When I first got her: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]As she stands: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Besides a few stickers and window tint, its got a yakima rack that is functional and actually used for snow sports... LOL! OH... please excuse my weaksauace attempts of photography and trying to edit... LOL! i messed around and have never really gotten any good.

| it depends on the brand. if it's a thule, ull have to be a bit more picky since i believe that thule only has one rack foot that will fit the GE8 (i might be wrong). if it is a Yakima, make sure it is the q-towers (these are pretty abundant and common). the clips will have to be q99. the bars must be 48+ inches. ill make a list for u: 4 q-towers 4 q99 clips 4 "e" pads two 48' round bars 42' wind fairing all those parts can be purchased used or new, it's up to you. what i did was bought a complete rack off of craigslist and added the bigsnow ski rack. luckily the guy had 4 q99 clips already so i didnt really have to buy anything (direct bolt on). i just replaced the "e" padding, black protect stickers on the q99 clips, and the bar end caps. total, i spent about $280ish i think. lmk if u have any questions. fyi: the roof rack kills MPG! no joke and no exaggeration. driving to sacramento with this on got me 27mpg! with it off, i drove to sac and got 38mpg! | |

its not the weight its the fact you got this huge brick all where air use to follow smoothly. - bunz559 wrote:

Same here. The car's really underpowered so driving with a lead foot will get you about 25 - 27 mpg. It doesn't sound like much but if you drive carefully, I can manage to get around 28 - 31 mpg in the city. On the highway during out of town trips I manage to get anywhere from 36 - 38 mpg.

You're right Coach, the roof rack does affect gas millage tremendously. On trips out of town, with the roof rack I get around 27 - 29 mpg. With it off, I can manage 36 - 38 mpg. The roof rack really kills gas due to wind resistance. I dont intend to keep it on after winter though unless I decide to start mountain biking... But if there's no use, it's coming off. Functionality is what I'm after, although it does look pretty kool.

The trick to getting good millage is keeping the car at a consistent speed. U can still travel at 75-80 mph and get great millage.

| Nice! Bike racks ftw! Especially for the folks that actually use them :p
And yes, wind resistance from the drag sucks at highway speeds mostly.
