to ps3 or not to ps3

im not a big gamer, but if i do buy an other platform again i will go ps3 just wanna hear peoples thoughts.

get a wii....netflix compatible....and the games are fun...haha I am far from being a gamer....i don't own any systems.


oh wait...i have a PS2 that i bought when i was 16 and its the best darned DVD player i ever owned!

For the casual gamer I recommend the PS3 mainly because Online play is free. So if you don't play games that often and you just want to play a quick game online or whatever it's nice knowing that you don't have to sit there wondering if you had payed the Xbox Live bill or not. Also Xbox and PS3 basically have the same games on both systems except for a few exclusive titles.

Wii is fun for a moment but the games on the Wii are just horrible. I mean it's got a plethora of Mario games and what not but anything past that is just not worth playing. When I owned a Wii I always found myself downloading the old classic games and playing those instead of Wii Games. The main reason why I bought a wii is for Super Smash Bro. Brawl but at that time I was playing at Tournaments. Once I grew tired of the game it sat and collected dust for a very long time. Also the Wii is going to be a paperweight once the new Wii-U hits the market but who knows when that will be.

Xbox360 is cool but I'm not too fond of them mainly because of the controller design just feels awkward in my hand plus no Blu Ray and I don't like the idea of paying for Xbox Live. I also don't really care for the Exclusive Titles on Xbox which mainly consists of mediocre FPS games like Halo or Gears of War. All Gaming systems Have Netflix and I think Hulu as well.

I, personally, prefer the x-box controller, though. The Microsoft exclusive games don't do much for me other than Forza..but that's not enough to get me to buy one.

PS3 has a ton of great games and online is free. There are awesome classics downloads, Netflix, etc. I also own two that have never given me any issues over the years i've owned them. Particularly no red ring of death.

Been using the xbox 360 for years, now I dont even touch it, the exclusive games dont interest me, and me and several of my friends have decided to switch over to PS3, the system is better, you can play blue ray, there are exclusive games on PS3 I want to play, and to play live its free, screw paying $50 a year to play on xbox live! I have played both systems, and the xbox controller is a better setup, but on PS3 they sell USB xbox style controllers you can use, so problem solved. These systems have been out for a while now, but PS3 is now starting to come out with the good stuff.

thanks, main reason i want one is the blue ray. had an modded xbox 360 and it got banned so yeah. then i never really got big into things other then cod.

if ur a casual gamer, then get a ps3. xbox 360 is more for the hardcore gamers. I personally bought a ps3 for bluray, turns out its crap and not like the $300 bluray player you buy at the stores. I stop caring for bluray, why buy movies when you can get Netflix or Hulu plus?

dur. i forgot about bluray. worth it, IMO. the movies look awesome on nice, big TVs. and, as mentioned above, you can get an x-box style controller for the PS3.

i have yet to find a real reason to get myself an xbox. i'd probably get a Wii first, but only because my son likes the games.

i agree and the pc thing....never will have the desire to build a pc to game on.

Blu-Ray requires an hdmi cable, otherwise, you're wasting your time. If you had poor picture quality it was probably one or more of:

not using hdmi
tv settings need to be adjusted (noise filters, etc)
Cheap TV.


Blu-Ray looks amazing.
