comcast internet

who here have comcast/xfinity internet? is it good, fast, whatever? heard that comcast can ruin credit score even if your doing no contract, is this true? also, what are pros and cons about them? thanks

i have comcast on and off and nothing happen to my credit score, stiil over 700.

comcast sucks, buts its the only one worth getting in town. cant wait till verizon fios come into town.

my comcast is fine. its fast..haha.. dling at 3MBs per sec max on torrents.. it doesnt die on me. but expensive.

Thats what i thought chous cause i got it cause vang they got nothing but good stuff lol....hopefully nothing happens. I rather have it then dsl. Thanks guys.

as far as pros and cons go; i've been with comcast for many years (almost 9 now), i've gotten frustrated with them in the past and swapped over to ATT and others but always came back. its like the others say, its more expensive than some others but it's really the only way to go in Fresno. besides, is $80 a month really THAT expensive???

one thing i would keep an eye on though, Comcast corporate is one of those crazy antipiracy supporters. i've never had issues torrenting but my buddy got some notices a while back from Disney (via comcast) to stop DLing their movies. on top of that, i've been hearing that comcast along with other ISPs are trying to get a workaround by next summer for some sort of antipiracy system on their networks - dont know the details but from what i hear it seems pretty serious, like thousand dollar fines and jailing serious.

I will be back with comcast soon. ATT has been nothing but a huge headache. 12mbps is my max dl.
I just ran my test. Making the call tomorrow for comcast.

11.73mbps DL .71mbps upload 37 ping ms

what they are testing are only in megebits not megebytes. thats what Mbps. im geting 35 mbps dl and 5 mpbs upload from speedtest.net. if you convert that over to mega bytes its roughly 4MB. but comcast kinda cheated these speed testing website with their speed boost.

comcast is probably the best thing we'll ever have in Fresno until we get other companies that will make their way over.

yea thats pretty much they're trick. they boost your speed for the first "something" megabits, then it slows down right after. speedtest.net only tracks those first few bits, if it was a 5 min plus test then that'll be more accurate.
