B Series Axles Empty
PostSubject: B Series Axles   B Series Axles EmptyThu Apr 05, 2012 7:49 pm

I have been reading up on the difference between ls and gsr axles on other forums but the image is just not clear to me..since some says it is the same and some says it is defferent..I am wondering, for all B Series axles (94-01 LS, RS, GSR and USDM ITR), are they all the same? Please shed some light on this for me Smile

Thank you in advance.

while swapping GSR and ITR stuff around, i never changed axles. an LS trans should be the same. IIRC all hydro b-series transmissions use the same axles.

IIRC all B Series axles are interchangeable except JDM ITR and CRV which are 36mm.

Also, you could use ABS axles on a non ABS car. Prices are also different, even though they are the same. EM1s are cheaper. I have used a B16 axle and LS axle on my GSR Tranny.

The obvious DA/EF axles won't fit.

Here's a question that I have, is there a difference in Auto/Manual Axles?

Regardless if it's Auto or manual, it is the same..just go to autozone, there's no option for auto axles or manual axles LOL..only option is the abs or no abs axles....

Secondly, can I use a LS driver side axle to replace the one currently on my car? Or do I have to swap out the half shaft also?

not sure about the eg dc ek em but for da, the auto and manual axles are different..we bought a da halfshaft from a guy on cl that claim it was manual. when we got home and try fitting it in etc, we found out it was an auto halfshaft so auto and manual must be different.

half shafts should be the same also, assuming we are still talking hydro b-series.

if possible. auto parts stores have "life time warranty" on their axles.. but who cares when you are swapping them every week. they seem to have about a 50% success rate. i have never, ever, ever bought an axle from an auto parts store. never will.

it is possible the GS-R axle is thicker than the LS. and i think the ITR may be even larger, but not sure. unless you are making 400hp, an LS axle will be fine. probably would be fine no matter what, now that i think about it.

only real difference between them is abs or non abs as stated. half shafts are the same. you cant use a non abs axle on a car with abs thu. i have a warrenty because a im a cheap ass and the amount i drive an oem one would fail just as well. replacing them isnt a big deal to me cause i tie it into some other type of work i'll be doing to the car any ways.
